Great stuff that you've done, the 385 series engine (429) is an excellent engine IMO. I've had experience with two 385 series...a 429 and a 460...and when I think of it a 370 Ford medium duty truck engine that was also a 385 series.
But one thing to think of and I'm basing this opinion on a few buddies that are very adept mechanically, do things themselves and very good vehicle builders.
An older rod/resto etc...because of it's age and modifications a lot of times more than not, can be a vehicle that suffers more breakdowns...some small, some not than a newer vehicle. Just saying...something to consider when you adding some load/stress to it, while traveling.
But if you're handy and knowledgeable, carry some tools...it could be a lot more fun than traveling with a newer vehicle.
