1956 F100 what can it pull?

I am building this truck with a 1972 Ford 429 motor with throttle body fuel injection and turbo charged, a C-6 transmission, 31 spline Ford 9" rear end with 325 gears and posi-traction. Totally boxed frame with extra cross members. Heavy duty air bags and shocks all the way round. Four wheel disc brakes. I don't know what the gross vehicle weight is and don't know with this set up what I can pull safely. I am looking at a Blackstone 26' trailer with a total weight of 9800lbs. Would this work.

I don't see what could possibly go wrong. :B

    LOL

In all seriousness it sounds as though you are building a very nice hot rod not a work truck or capable tow vehicle. Enjoy the 56 but buy a tow vehicle intended for the task.

Pulling a TT is one thing but you eventually have to come to a stop.

I spot my 4200 lb Starcraft RT14 OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer here at the house with my Sears LT1000 (Stock) so who knows...

Operation looks much like this Google photo...

  • You got a Ford 9",, put a set of 4:10's in and call it good!! With the C6 and the turbo big block (not just any BB a 429 monster) you can tow anything you please!! I had a 429 SCJ in a flat bottom boat!! Scary fast!! It would get going so fast across the lake that you had to hold your thumb over your beer or it would siphon it out all over your face!!
Please post pictures!!! Hook that bad boy up and go camping!!
  • That is a passanger car rear end. Thaat will limit you pretty drastically. So Im guessing that will be way too much trailer. Maybe a tear drop would be a good fit. Look kool too!
