Okay - Damage and Detail Day! Woo Hoo!
Let's start here. This is the interior of the only roof opening - the vent. You'll see more of this baby (being fixed) in two days.

This is one of the three or four worst spots. Logical; water intrusion around the vent.
Here's the opposite end of the affected ceiling panel. Some work cosmetically, but the real question is, "what is the framing/structure like under this?".

And with the high, sloped to lower roof line, a roof panel seam was placed along the rearward edge of the roof vent at the lower ceiling. I'll address this during the upcoming "Vent Sealing" post.
Probably the WORST - of the three or four worst areas - is behind the galley upper wall cabinet. Where did the water come from? The vent? The roof seam? Maybe, but in all likelihood, it all came from the edge seal - where the roof meets the wall and the siding folds over and is covered by butyl tape sealed aluminum exterior trim.
The majority of the driver side wall to ceiling corner (from the inside) is viewed here in order from rear to forward.
Really, not bad at all, here at the back.

Rear of the three cabinets doors.

Center cabinet door.

And the forward cabinet door.

Forward of the cabinet.

But let's not worry about "oooo killed oooo", this is a vintage camper, it's meant to be a HAPPY occasion!"
Yeah, check out the furnace.

And the range.

![](http://i.imgur.com/NTLXkjI.jpg)
We found the grate clips in an envelope in a drawer. Amazing.
Look at how clean the oven is! Lil' Queeny was missing the broiler pan (on the bottom). We stole this one. Shhhh! Don't tell the kids. ;)

The icebox.
![](http://i.imgur.com/5yC4FOI.jpg)
The sink, and counter.
![](http://i.imgur.com/XIVExkO.jpg)
Matches this best of the tables.

We were thinking of ways to resurface and save the original counter top patterns. Now we're kind of going a different way, due to the sink area counter question-ability (also known as damage)...

and the need for two modification tables at the rear sofa. So we'll match them with new tops.
The range hood, no vent, but look! A vent right above it! A vent for: propane light, range, and ventilation, all in one - ingenious!

Okay back to more "condition" - the upper bunk, which is also structure. Note how the bunk is supported by the front wall, beneath, at about the middle of the bunk overhang. The overhang is the cantilever, and it has equal and opposite support back in the rest of the camper structure, very like truck camper bunks.

And the right side.

![](http://i.imgur.com/DJuCB8D.jpg)
Look what I found in the wardrobe drawer.
![](http://i.imgur.com/gSWTNAQ.jpg)
Paperwork. It holds instructions papers for the range, the icebox, the hand pump, the furnace, etc.
And on the back wall of the wardrobe - the warranty! I wonder.....?

Galvanized wheel wells under cabinets and at the rear sofa the little wood boxes are built around them.

Check out that vintage era shelf paper! :)

![](http://i.imgur.com/FlBq5KB.jpg)
Look how far open the Jalousie style windows crank.
![](http://i.imgur.com/JIxssWK.jpg)
As of right now, I have the roof vent back in and sealed, a roof plan - including panel seams and edge seal repairs, and the galley upper wall cabinet removed!
Yes the damage is easier to see now. Today I am going to go on a field trip behind the damaged interior wall. I'll wear the 100' rope around my waist and tie it off to - what? - the oven handle perhaps. That way, if I get in too deep (behind the wall and into the framing structure) I'll be able to find my way out. Or if I become overwhelmed (poisonous fumes and such), someone can check on me and maybe come to my rescue! DW's done THAT before!
See you tomorrow. I hope.
