Today's post (first of nine reports or so) begins five days (real time) of roof edge reveal and repair. Today (in real time) I'll be stapling the roof edges back down in prep for further butyl tape and molding installation, maybe today, maybe tomorrow.
Thanks westend and it's funny you should mention that. Just yesterday I had a gap to fill (after another repair above the door) and I was thinking, 'a good substance might be Liquid Nails'! ;)
In fact that whole license plate/liquid nails thing is going to generate several jokes over the next few days (I'll hold up two fingers when I want you to laugh), and after dealing with that stuff with the license plate, I am now convinced that a camper COULD be built entirely out of liquid nails and duct tape. Anybody wanna give it a try? ;)
I'll consider your advice on some of the next gaps I find though, and we'll keep trucking.
Today I start tearing into the roof/wall edge along the damaged galley side. ADVISORY: Some viewers may find the following images disturbing. You have been warned! But have faith, send some positive energies out into the universe for me, enjoy the ride and have fun. I did. :)
But before we get up top, it looks like I have a couple stray pics from the previous day's work.
The back wall which I sanded while the window was out. It could get a final and then stain anytime.

A small piece to patch (liquid nails?) but mostly covered with window trim.

Okay, I know we just put this back on, but with outside (weather related) considerations, it was right at the time. But now, in order to lift the metal enough, this had to be popped back out.

And then it was careful removal of the staples, first holding the roof metal, and then holding the wall metal. Did I mention how glad I am to have the scaffolding?

The next series of photos show from front to back, what I discovered on this, arguably the worst of the two sides (based solely on interior effects).
You will note there is NO roof rib (stringer from left to right) in support of the lower round of the roof. Right where the most severe of several cracks showed up in the metal edge.

That's the front sofa seen in the distance.
I think we are now just looking here and there.

Note in some of those, the 14 gauge wiring routed from the ceiling light. It simply lays atop the framing. Near the vent, where the raised framing is, there's a gap, but.... we'll fix this and (spoiler alert) I gained additional ceiling access so ran new 12 gauge wire.
And this is the 3/4" plywood board used to raise the roof framing. Just a little damaged wouldn't you say?

And here's after pulling the spacer boards between ribs.

Here's what I pulled out.

Let's go inside and check out the new air conditioning.

We'll just leave it like that for 24 hours (in forum time, not real time) and let you sleep on it. Sweet dreams!
