Today - Remove original entry fold-up step, install aftermarket scissor step.
The original step came on the camper, and it worked too! Needed a little lube, but no whacks on a rock or anything - pretty good shape.
But the hardware had loosened.

The heads of the carriage bolts were loose in the floor and beneath the sub-floor layer - so no access. I used vice grips in available spots to get the nuts off.

With the step down, the spacer boards were next.

Then I used a hole saw to carefully cut the vinyl floor, but the heads still had to come up through.

That floor now looks bad, but it was the worst of the floor anyway and we have a new floor covering plan that will fix it.
Now the new scissors steps. I had two sets, an aluminum four step, and a heavier steel painted three step. The four step is to be used on Lil' Queeny, but in tests, the three step would work best on Tow-Mater anyway! And the rough black paint looked cool. Oh - and then I also had the aluminum three step in the other parts camper the kids gave me. Where we got the water tank?
And then DSIL sent ANOTHER painted (heavy steel) three step, so now I have two extra painted three steps - for another plan.
But Tow-Mater got the aluminum set.
I didn't get close shots of the scissor steps, but they are a straightforward bracket, lagged bolted to the floor framing. The steps then sit into the bracket and are removable for transport. I might make a handy way to carry them, either near the use area, or in a cargo carrier.
All in all, a nice sturdy entry, on this little old canned ham with a new view on life.
