Oh you guys are kind. :) Thanks though. Regarding exterior paint, let's share the plan.
Today: Exterior paint-scheme talk and "sharing" philosophy.
As a Tow-Mater kind of thing, and as a side project, meaning this ain't my main camper project, we will get the trailer to a leveling off point, and then almost anything could happen. Let's just hope what happens is not my interest waning!
Right now, all opinions (DW, DD, DSIL) are leaning to a paint removal of the remaining, and just go aluminum. I'm finding lacquer thinner does a fine job on removing this camper's white. That would make leak (and aluminum cracking spots) detection easier.
Now certain patches would have to be brought on board to match, both in the absence of paint on the field, and in the concept of the trailer's name and character. And that (patches that fit the character) might simply be silver paint. But obviously silver paint will look like a patch against the aluminum. Therefore, we might have to outline the patches in silver paint with red/orange pinstripe, and shape them like a Batman and Robin "BLAM" cartoon star thingy.
Alternatively, we could go the cream color on the fields - more traditional, but that's down the road because it's more work and effort.
As far as the camper body trim colors go, here's the plan. The original "Roadrunner striping" (one big arrow on either side - with feather fletching, and one small fletched arrow on each side behind the bunk windows, will be the tomato soup orange. Then those will likely be pinstriped out in the same red as the "Roadrunner decals" we bought for front and back walls above the windows. There's also a small decal near the door for the "L & M Roadrunner" manufacturer info to go on.
Those reds will tie in the light lens colors too.
DW told DSIL he needs to get a small Roadrunner arrow emblem in orange and stealthy-like, place it somewhere on his black truck, you know, for continuity. :)
Paint on the frame? Of course the cream looks original, except not the entire frame. It appears it was painted just on the extension portions, for looks. Now lifted it becomes more apparent.
Modernizing modifications, such as an off-road toy hauler style, might simply demand a black color to the frame. That would match the truck and be the easiest to touch up in future, like my typical touch-up black spray going up on Lil' Willy's framing.
And then there's the add-ons such as a cargo box. Frame color? Or orange? Possibilities! Of course things built onto the front would have to balance it out and be orange too, in some level.
So, like you- I'm excited to see what happens too!
As far as a TV show goes? That's a nice comment, I appreciate the buy-in to my chosen form of expression, and I am certainly glad people are enjoying this. But do you see what happens when people get celebrity? It's ugly I tell you, ugly!
One has to constantly wonder: too much detail, too many pictures, not enough of either, too flippant, too much "I know it all" attitude? Lots of avenues to walk down when you have a written expression interest.
I suppose a first step would be for the History Channel to come to me and make a proposal to buy my lifetime Photobucket Plus500 subscription. Then all the previous pictures are available again to the reader. I thought it was a monthly limit I hit, refreshed in July. I guess I was wrong. It now appears Photobucket has taken a page out of the Ransomware play-book, and they nailed us all. Yes they have to stay afloat, but they should then at least provide a two or three click edit of "all pics in my library at once" to resize files (bandwidth limits) in a one time and then start the bandwidth limit thing over again. But they are not about retention of all our pictures in forum threads, they are about threats and ransom.
On a happier note, I go back and read some of this stuff and can appreciate the entertaining aspect of it. But there's also a self-aggrandizing effect that I don't want to put forth (so I try humor and self-deprecation), but just kind of comes along naturally, due to the wide variations of experience levels in the readers. So thanks for understanding that too!
I expect many of the things I do are considered wrong by some others. For me, it's just about using what I do know, and have experienced though life already, to try something more, and move along having fun. That's my goal. Well... and to bring some happiness to others when it happens.
