back from Arkansas...
Wow what a trip. We left Thursday night at midnight and drove straight 15 1/2 hours to Alma AR to an RV place called Crabtree RV. Got there about an hour and 1/2 before they closed for the day. The camper is, to say the least, a bit on the rough side, but if you can look past all the interior decor and water damage (with vision) you can't help but fall in love with the darn thing. From the front that looks like the SS Enterprise to the rear, that looks like the back of a garbage truck (open that is) it is a beautifully designed camper. My husband's favorite part is the 1 piece roofing system and mine is the Snap and Nap.
So once there, knowing ahead that the shop down there had to rebuild and extend the front side lifting system to fit around the dually... we thought we were good to go. Well, not so fast. Yes the lifts did stick out far enough for the dually to pass under, but the support legs did not. The tires would have driven right over them and probably tipped the camper. So what to do... what to do. Well a young mechanic down there had the great idea to remove the outside wheels off the dually. Back her up to recieve the camper (on only single tires on each side) raise her back up and place the other 2 tires back on the truck. We will deal with getting her off on a later date. LOL
Trip home was fantastic. We decided to stay 2 night at Devils den in the Ozarks and do some hiking and Crevasse climbing. Damn if almost everything works in the trailer. The question surfaces. What should I keep (if anything) and what to replace? 40 years old is pretty old. Although the stove was never used, so that is definitely a keeper. As far as leaking, the Snap and Nap poured rain in. The reminder of the leaks were in usual place, around the vents. Oh well, total tear out will fix that.
The final 15 hours back to PA were umeventful. The dually was made to haul that thing. Ready for the fun part. I will post pics and plan on creating my own blog. The goal is to create a masterpiece like the one in Reading PA. (which is absolutely beautiful.
