1979 Terry Taurus by Fleetwood

So far, so good, but may be stumped now. It has new tires by previous owner. We have replaced the roof all vent covers and the damage from leaking to the bathroom ceiling. Water lines were leaky at almost every joint. We are replacing those little by little. Refrig has been removed and replaced by a new whirlpool from Sam's @$139. (Fits perfectly)Stove Oven and all burners work fine and look great with new backsplast. A/c works, heat does not, but that is not a problem for now. Husband is repairing HWH hopefully. Interior is great! The paneling polished up real nice. I have covered the dinette seats and bought new covers for twin beds. Repainted all interior covers like A/C etc. Installing new blinds and may add Cornish covers. The floors look new under a earlier cover with felt floor tiles.
Now for the fun part!!! Both the grey and blk tanks are leaking and will most likely need replacing. This is an expensive project in unknown territory. Any advice, other than professional replacement, will be greatly appreciated?? There could be a chance we can repair??
  • Hello Chief! About 5 years ago I came upon a deal for a 1987 Yukon Wilderness 24C (Fleetwood). Even though I had a camper, I thought this would be a great project to rehab and place on a permanent hunting site. Like you, I installed a fridge, and had to replace/repair several spots in the water lines with PEX tubing. I also ripped out any carpet, repaired soft spots in the floor, and installed peel and stick tile. I repaired all leaks around the windows, and aluminum roof, and then covered the walls in bead-board paneling. The heater didn't work so I installed a small base board heater and supplement it with a ceramic space heater. Very toasty even down to single digits. In other words, it can be done with time and patience. And to add.... I cleaned the exterior and painted it with Rustoleum simi-gloss white, and the window frames with Rustoleum gloss black. It still looks good and I use it several times a year. Best wishes, don't give up, and turn it into something you'll love!
  • Where are the tanks leaking at ????

If it is near the drain valve it is most likely a part that can be replaced.

If the tank itself is cracked there are products on the market that can repair the crack if it is not to big .

I forgot to mention in my first response; that I repaired a small leak (split) on the black tank with some JB WELD - 5 years ago and no leak.
