1985 chevy

Can a '85 dually, bonus cab, auto trans, LWB be towed with all 4 down or need to be trailered. Have found one owner with 85000 original miles for sale. VIN 1GCHC33W3FS####.
Thanks

The OP is talking about a dually. That would be a very wide dolly.

A dually dolly if you will.

  • Never seen a tow behind dolly wide enough for duals. Not common for sure.
4 bolts pops the driveshaft off the rear axle. Don't even have to remove it from the truck.
Nice thing is that old of truck has a stout enough bumper you can slap a tow bar on it.
  • ^^^^^^what he said^^^^^^ If you turn the key to on you will put a drain on the battery. One step foreword will unlock the wheel but not turn the power on. As noted you will need to pull the driveshaft. You can leave it in place but there is a speed limit and distance limit for towing with the drive line intact. I would bet the owners manual is still in the truck and it should give you the towing restrictions.

    Don

Or you could use a tow dolly and load the tuck with the rear tires on the dolly. You would need to use a wheel lock to hold the steering wheel in the straight froward position. It is not a good idea or legal to depend on the wheel lock to hold it in position.
  • Stearing lock will prevent it I suspect. Disconnect the drive shaft, put the key in on position and sure you can drag it.
