1985 Tidwell Silver Eagle on Chevy P30 Repair Questions

Hi there, Smart and Skilled RV Enthusiasts!

I need your expertise to help me get my beloved 1985 Tidwell Silver Eagle Class A motorhome back up and running after a recent break-in. The interior of my motorhome is beautifully updated and it was in perfect working condition until the thieves stole all of my batteries, as well as my ignition keys from my nearby home.

But don't worry, I've taken steps to ensure that the thieves won't be coming back by installing a deadbolt on the RV's door. Now, I need your help to get the engine started again. I've purchased two large capacity deep cycle batteries and one big cranking battery to replace the ones that were stolen, and I've also got a new key cylinder for the dashboard.

Although I have a basic understanding of household electrical and basic 12 V DC power, I'm new to vehicle mechanical systems and could use your expert guidance in reconnecting the engine starter battery and replacing the key cylinder. I'm eager to work with the engaging RV support community and make some new friends along the way.

So, if you're a smart and skilled RV enthusiast with a passion for helping others, please lend me your expertise and let's get my motorhome back on the road where it belongs!
  • Looks to me like the first photo is the chassis battery and the second photo is the coach battery.
In first photo the black wire could be feed to the chassis battery relay that energizes for battery charge.
Second photo looks like red wires are positive and black wires including black taped red are negative.
  • This is the area where the new deep cycle batteries connect. Im equally lost as to where to start.
  • Please ignore the big battery sitting in the holster in this image. It has since been removed. I dont know where to start with tracing the wires to get everything hooked back up right and to a new battery.
