I remember getting a card in the mail, and it said "Recive a free gift if you come test drive a Dodge. So I went to the local Dodge dealer, and figured 'why not test drive the V10 3500?'
I told the salesman that I wanted to tow my dune buggy on a trailer, what is the towing capacity of this truck? (1991 V10 3500)
The salesman said it would tow 6,000 or 7,000 pounds! Wow!
The real answer was something like 13,000 pounds, but he was cluelesss. . .
The 2000 F-150's had a 300 HP rating the same as the 1996 V10 from Dodge. Now Dodge even has some more V8's that are close to 300 HP!
Horsepower ratings have sure increased a lot since 1996, when the GVWR of a dually was only 10,000 pounds, and the SRW 2005 F-250 was 10,000 pounds, while a 2005 F-350 dually could carry 5,500 pounds with the V10 engine!
I am sure happy to know that the GVWR has improved SO much over the years, led by Ford of course!
Now I am about to pick up my new Transit van, and it will have a 3,000 pound cargo rating! 3,000 pounds is more cargo rating than all these 1996 dually pickups! And my van will have single rear wheels, T-250 with a small V6, with 365 HP, more power than any of these three "Monster Trucks" from 1996 had under the hood!
How have things improved!
Have fun camping!
