My 1999 Chevy 1500 Suburban is rated for 5000lbs max according to the owners manual. It did not have a tow package installed or a different gear ratio from the factory. We did tow our Jayco 27BH with it for 2 years. Once we wanted a larger TT ( 35' with 2 slides) we bought an Excursion.
