Home safely with our beautiful Rockwood 2604. Spent yesterday moving stuff from the ROO to the "Rocky", as it's now known. Fun, but made us a bit sad....actually pretty darned sad. So it's about half done and hoping to get the last half done today and tomorrow. We're meeting some DFs in Memphis that we haven't seen in 15+ years next week and really need Rocky to be ready and the ROO to be detailed and ready for another loving home.
Foxy.....not too sure she's crazy about Rocky. She's used to being able to hop onto the bunkend and snoop around to see what's going on.....no bunkend, sorry Fox.
Story from our time at RVW and chatting with a unit delivery driver.....we had a mile long PDI list, so no problems. He was telling us that his job is to deliver the unit safely to wherever the owner wants. He had a delivery recently where he met the owner "out in the middle of nowhere". The new owner didn't have the very first clue what he had bought. Apparently he had a way less than adequate hitch of some kind and seemed totally surprised that it wasn't sufficient. Also wanted to know how this and that worked and what's this thingy. What does this do? The driver said he explained that he didn't have that info and that all he did was deliver....after that, you're on your own. Nice guy and we enjoyed talking to him, but a real lesson on why it's important to do everything possible to take delivery at the dealer and get the PDI and your questions answered. After starting on our 8th season with the ROO, we thought we knew pretty much all we needed to know.....WRONG. There are a zillion different things on our new unit and it would have pushed DH right over the edge to not have someone to explain and show him how all this new stuff worked.
Another reason to stay overnight at Indian Lake if you buy from RVW.....DH found a tiny crack on one of the front skirting pieces + 1 of the outside speakers wasn't working. Called RVW and the warranty person - you could not pay me enough to have her job! - said to swing by on the way out and she'd need a picture of the piece to have another one ordered and the tech just pulled the stereo out of the cabinet, found a plug not plugged in, fixed that and we were out of there. DH told her to just send the piece to us and he'd put it on....a 10 minute job that he did on the ROO after something on the road bounced up and broke it. If you find something wrong, you're 5 minutes away. And....for some unknown reason, we thought we should have a full hook-up site at Indian Lake. It's a beautiful SP, but those 12 full sites are dreadful. Unless you absolutely feel it's crucial, just go for one of the water/electric sites. Dumping the grey tank isn't exactly rocket science and we could have had a nicer site for less $.
