The Darkside - claims another one

I've had to eat crow, since we too moved to the Dark Side, after our 10 years owning our beloved Roo 23SS.
During those 10 years, I was negative about a regular TT, calling them shoeboxes.

In my defense, I still prefer the hybrid but the DW demanded a walk around bed.
She does miss the openness of the hybrid though. But our theater recliner sofa helps.:B

You may find you like the TT better than you think. I hope so, anyway! We went to the "dark side" some 10-11 years ago now, and have no regrets. I liked the openness of the HTT, but didn't like the bed end leaks when driving in the rain, and being a light sleeper, outside noises were a lot more evident in the HTT. Not as much of a problem in the TT - and we can camp in colder weather now. Enjoy the new rig!

We jumped to the dark side from a HTT to a TT two years ago after running across a great deal. We loved the easy of the TT vs the HTT. Set up was way simpler in the rain, we had a lot more storage (HTT lacked), larger bathroom, and a oven (HTT lacked)that we never thought about even using in the past while camping. We loved it. This past April, we ran across an AMAZING deal on a class A. Our original intentions were to re-sale to make money, but we couldn't justify it with such the great deal, so that TT was sold instead.

We miss sleeping under the stars in HTT as the TT and Class A is way more enclosed and quiet, but it is also nice to not hear every little thing going on outside too while trying to sleep.

Hopefully you enjoy the TT just as much as the HTT.

Thank you. Yes, I think we will have many great adventures and memories in our Nash. It is a heavier trailer so I miss the HTT almost being not noticeable behind me. But that is a small price to pay.

We have already found that packing up to go home from a trip is much less effort than with the HTT and in the PNW off seasons, that will be a real treat!

Another reason why we went to a TT, is that we retired and we wanted to leave the PNW during the winter.
We spent 7 weeks in California, this last winter. The new TT is much better than our hybrid, for this type of lifestyle.

We had our Starcraft 21SSO for 10 years. Loved every trip with it. For the 15 years prior we went through two popups. Three years ago we traded for a 29' fifth wheel. Mostly because our needs changed.

We took the Hybrid into remote areas, down dirt logging roads in the mountain and mostly dry camped, hiked, fished and took kids most trips. As us and the kids got older we went on those type of trips less and less. The fifth wheel is far easier to setup, and close up. Much more room, storage and overall comfort. But it cannot go into the areas we took the Hybrid. Different purposes. I still miss the Hybrid but I got too old for those adventures!

I have to say, all the reasons folks have moved to the dark side is true for me as well. Additionally, climbing up and into the bed and having to crawl over my DW during the night was getting old as I get older too.

Certainly miss some of the aspects but, so far, the positives of the Nash outweigh the items I miss of our ex-Hybrid.

We almost bought a TT, even had a couples trailer picked out but in the end, storage at home won out. We bought a Roo 23IKSS instead.

I never had issues with hybrid beds. But even at 63, I don't have to get up during the night. So the crawling over thing isn't an issue.

For us, it was wanting to go south for the winter and be gone 2-3 months.
Setting up and taking down every few days for that long, wasn't appealing.
Plus our new TT has theater recliners, instead of the uncomfortable sofa bed, in a 26' package.:B
