Another TCer going to the darkside UPDATED PHOTOS

My wife and I decided it was time to get something other than the TCer for our travels. I was really planning on getting another bigger camper but after much discussion with the wife we decided it was probably time to start looking at something we can most likely use for the rest of our RV years. With age creeping up on us we decided to get a MH. Something that doesn't have as many steps to get in and out (don't want to take a header off the steps as I don't seem to bounce anymore) also we are still able to get into the over head bed fine now but what about the future.

So we bought a Winnebago View Profile 24V with a sofa slideout. We picked it up in TX last Wednesday and dry camped in a casino parking lot on the way back. It was nice having the on board generator because it was hot (running 99 to 100 day time temps) when we were in Denton, TX taking delivery of the unit. The generator is a diesel which runs off the fuel tank for the chassis. I figured it out at half load the generator uses about .25 gallons of fuel per hour. If I had a full tank of fuel that we give me over 70 hours of steady run time before it shut down and would still leave me with 1/4 tank of fuel lift to get to a service station to fill up.

Coming back from TX to Arkansas I got 16.8 MPG leaving Denton with all of the stop and go to get out of town. The next tank I got 15.9 this was going through the Boston Mountains. These are not mountains like out west but they have some pretty good pulls and lots of up and downs. I never ran out of power and I ran between 60 and 65 MPH all the time, right where I like to travel at. So far pretty happy with our decision to go the way we have.

I ordered a Subaru 2014 XV Crosstrek to pull behind it so we can still get to some out of the way places with it. I know it is not a Jeep but I was really surprised that it has 8.7" of ground clearance so I should still be able to get off the main road where I want to go.

I'll always be a TCer at heart and like the people that use TCers so even though I'm leaving the ranks doesn't mean I won't wave at every TCer I see. I will probably still be over here to read and look at the Trip Reports because you guys have the best trips of any of them.

Thanks for the memories all.

ON EDIT; Here are some photos I just took. Not very good ones but you get the idea

The full body paint is called Hot Charcoal and is nice looking n person. My neighbors came over to look at it and they think the bathroom in ours is bigger than theirs. Their rig is 40' diesel pusher. I find it kind of hard to believe but they said it was.
