2002 Fleetwood Caribou 11j repairs

Hi
I havn't posted in a while but I thought I would share some photos. In 2009 we had some major water damage going on and the RV repair man said to light a match to the camper it wasn't worth it. Since we couldn't afford to get a new one we did the repairs ourselfs.First we took off the old roof -no damage to the wood good sign. Before putting on new roof we added some metal strapping to keep it from bumping against the cab of the truck. The front fiberglass cap was cracked and after trying to repair with bondo and screws we removd it. we replaced it with luan wood wich you soak in water to bend to the shape of the camper -not an easy thing to do you need more than two people. We replaced all the wood in the front because of rot and removed the window less weight and less chance of future water damage. Replaced all rotten parts. It's been 3yrs and the stuff that was replaced is in great shape. The new project for 2013 is to replace the box since that is not rotting out and colapsing the top of the camper. I've added images to photobucket of some of the repair we have moved to a new location and the remaining photos are somewhere? Hope you will be able to view the pics and it is helpful. We will post our repair of the box when we start that project.
Cal Gal ps-excuse anyspelling error spell ck wasnt woking:)

  • Thanks. If I find it great if not it has to be done. What do we have to loose it's already 10yrs old we definatly got our money out of it. My husband has a few ideas so I will post everything from start to finish
  • yes I saw the pics. A lot of work. Doesnt take much structually to become cost prohibitive having work done by someone. Been a few nose repairs by others, some looking worse than yours. 3 weeks is pretty good-3 years later even better!
Im unsure about the box. Looks like a task. Theres was a project couple of years ago doing a full lower box and wall repair but could not locate. There are a couple in the TCU thread-though more specificaly dealing with the slide support.
  • the roof had some leaking spots and then the end cap cracked. We thought we did a good job sealing the roof and re-caulking and using the bondo for the cap. I think the roof was leaking when we bought it we just didn't know. It took us about 3wks to repair it do to working a real job and we saved about $ 5,000
