At 15 yrs old and only 69,000 miles I figure there is alot of life left in my "very good" condition 2002 2500HD LT.....Is anyone with 10, 15, or 20 yr old chevy trucks having difficulty obtaining parts or are there plenty of after market suppliers out there?
Parts should be of no issue at all. I may have mentioned this to you previously, but if you have not had your brake lines inspected you need to get that done. Corrosion may not be an issue in California, but the alloys used in the lines of that era of GM truck were really poor. A very common issue is for the line going from the master cylinder to the ABS block to rupture right under the driver's seat.
Stainless steel brake line kits are available for about $125. Frankly I consider brake line replacement a PM item on these trucks. My experience has been it's not if, but when the line finally breaks.
On my old '04 2500HD the line ruptured when I wasn't towing thankfully. When I was replacing the lines we put a little bend in them and found they would crinkle in multiple locations easily. That told me there were several weak points within each tube.
