- hawkeye-08Explorer IIIWith our 2011 GMC Sierra CCSB 4WD 6.0/6sp/3.73 pulling our ~8000lb trailer, we get 7.5 to 8.5mpg. If you get the 4.10 gears, you should get a bit better (I know it is counter intuitive, but an extra 200rpms allows it to use a higher trans gear (5th instead of 4th) which reduces rpms and results in better mpgs. The 4.10s won't hurt you at freeway speeds on mileage because you have plenty of transmission gears to run 80mph if you want...
- Ryan_Elli1ExplorerBefore I got my F250 I had a HD 6.0 and pulling my FW from El Paso, TX to MI then to NC I got 9 MPG. The trucked fine even though the little mountains. I did get better MPG with the heavier FW than I did with my 7000lbs TT. With the TT I got 8.
- ElbertExplorer7-9 is a good number... maybe a little better on flat ground
- GeoBoyExplorerI have a 2005 Silverado 6.0 with a 4 speed, 4.10 gears, drive 60-62 mph and pull a 8'6 wide, 10'6" high, 7,000 lbs. TT and get 11 mpg. My truck gets it best mileage with 89 octane gasoline. Great motor!
- ksssExplorerA couple weeks ago I took 17K up a 6 mile 6% grade (2015 3500 6.0), crested the hill at 40 mph, the dic said I was getting 4 mpg, elevation was about 6500 at the top of the grade. Overall on the 150 mile trip I averaged 8 mpg with that load. My LBZ would have gotten 9-10. The tranny heated to 210, ambient temp was about 65 degrees. As a side note, I had just gone through a DOT inspection at the bottom of hill, there was no running start.

Bruce only travels with the wind at his back. :B
Makes for interesting routes.
I had one trip from home in Virginia to Lake George in upstate New York where I got 13 mpg in my 2004 Silverado 2500HD. On the way home I got 10 mpg.

Whatever you got with the Armada towing should be the same. I get 8-10mpg with my 6.0L/6-spd/3.73 depending on speed and wind. I have never seen a gas engine tow a high walled RV get 12mpg. Budget for 8mpg and be happy with 9-10. I budget for 8mpg and can get that at 65-70mph towing. I get 10mpg closer to 60mph.

I towed this combo about 4,500 miles across the country last spring (2011 Armada 5.6L/7,000lb 27' TT) and averaged about 8mpg.
I towed this combo about 3,500 miles across the country in the winter of 2011 (2004 Titan, 5.6L/same 7,000lb 27' TT) and averaged about 8mpg. - Dakota98Explorer

I get 7-9 mpg towing less with that same pickup. I don't tow over 65 mph either. Nice little thirsty engine.
I agree with 7-9 mpg.
