Well, my Gen 4 RAM's paint holds-up better than my wife's Subaru. Don't really have any rock chips, a few scuffs I can polish out, but still looks good after 2 years of existence. No Bird-turd induced etching on the paint (something that my wife's subaru is suffering from).
If you're moving to the PNW, I suggest having 4x4. There are driveable beaches in Oregon and Washington, along wtih plenty of boondocking sites up logging/fire roads. Then if you drive over the Cascade or Coastal ranges during the winter, it is very handy.
