OP here. Thanks for all the thoughts folks. I want to clear up a few things. First and foremost, I'm not making this change thinking that it'll save me money. I know a paid for car will always be cheaper than one you're making payments on.
Right now our primary "road trip" car is also getting a bit up there in years and should probably be retired to just back and forth to work driving for the wife. I'm primarily interested in a newer one with a 6 speed transmission more for the newer nice things on those, the added 7 airbags for the family, as well as there is a psychological thing for me in play with driving something empty down the road and getting 10mpg (like I did at Thanksgiving) vs 16 or 17mpg that I MAYBE could get with a 6.0 and 6 speed. Read that as, this would then become our primary road trip vehicle with or without the camper.
Bottom line with this one is, I LOVE the way it pulls. Unfortunately, I don't pull often enough or heavy enough to really need it. I got this thing for a straight trade for a 1/2 ton Denali XL last year, so I've literally got nothing in it $$$ wise and have never had a payment on it. Basically, I think maybe I'm getting the itch for a new truck too. That could definitely be part of it. :-)
I'm thinking I may just put it out on Craigslist for a decently high price and be willing to come down to my bottom number. If I have no takers, worse case scenario is I have a paid for Big Block Suburban to drive around. :-)
