Buying because you want a newer one or different one is the correct mindset. Buying to save money in gas will never happen. Hypothetically you sell yours for 5k you find the 6.0 you want for 10k. You can buy a **** load of gas for 5k. We have a 6.0 pickup also good mileage running free but way down around 10 towing. So don't think your going to get double the mileage.
Also just a soap box of mine HP is a calculation of torque and RPM. (RPM * T) / 5252=HP. So who cares about HP. Go for the torque ratings. Okay I am done now :-)
