Doesn't the GM 6L/6 speed/4.10 have similar if not better tow rating than the 8.1L/4.10? The 8.1L/4.10 was rated at 12k in the SUV and the 3.73 was down at or below 10k (around 9.6k?).
My 6L/6 speed/3.42 was rated at 9.2k. Pretty similar to the 8.1L/3.73 that had a gear advantage. My 6L would have had similar HP to the 8.1L and the 6L in the pickups with the 6 speed have more HP than the 8.1L.
