1/2 quart of good ol 2 cycle oil. Towing one quart.

I use Opti-Lube XPD, 1/4 oz per gallon of fuel. Comes out cheaper than 2 cycle oil.

A Cummins 12v can burn almost anything. I wouldn't use 2 cycle oil in a common rail. At 100k Mile's I would swap the thermostat and use new coolant. Napa carries HOAT. Have you swapped all fluids ( axles, tranny, transfer case, brake)? Steering stabilizer? Rear driveshaft ujoints?

I use Napa filters. They are rebranded Wix.

Buy the best quality smallest micron fuel filter you van find. Your injectors will thank you.

Use Fleetguard oil filters stratapore. Geno's Garage is a great place to buy Mopar Cummins/Fleetguard products.

Use quality 15/40 oil. Change "ALL" the transmission fluid and filter and adjust both bands at every 30k or so.

This sounds lik over kill for a truck that is marketed as a long hauler. I cannot argue that what you suggest is not good, but is it needed or of benefit? It's the change the tranny at 30k that seems a bit much.

It is my young ignorance asking and not trying to be a smart ass. Bought my first Diesel in July and plan in keeping it a very long time. If this actually provides some cost effectiveness to it I will do it.

In that Chrysler tranny it's recommended to change the fluid every 30k miles.

Totally agree with 12V98. That kind of maint. will pay back in spades when you get to higher mileage.

I am still driving my '04.5. I took delv. in Feb. of '04. It has 176k on it and counting. It is used as a DD also. I change oil,filters,add fuel as necessary and go. We did 7k miles this summer in 50 days with 5th in tow and not one problem. This mileage included crossing the Rockies twice and the northern Cascades twice. Oh by the way I am still running the stock fuel pump. The trans got rebuilt last year at 154K with HD parts. The interior and body still look new. No rust, cracked dash or worn out seats. JME. Yes, 150K for the valve lash adjustment. Keep up on fluid and filter changes.
Our 2001 only has 278,000 miles and still going strong and looking good.

Our 05 has 170,000 miles (U.S. model), 1 a/c clutch failure has been the only problem. As was said with regular oil changes, fuel and air filter maintenance that Cummins will give you years of reliable service. It will likely out last the truck.
