Why? Because we could. He was going to make a fortune hauling firewood and the bigger rear axle was supposed to help. After replacing an engine, a couple of transmissions, and other stuff, he realized there is more to a HD pickup than a rear axle rating which is what some on here still seem to believe. We learned differently over thirty years ago. Putting a 425 hp Cat diesel in a S-10 does not make it a Semi. About as silly as looking at individual components rather than the total vehicle rating.
