It would provide the same function as "turning off the ignition" in a vehicle.
When the stereo was replaced, someone probably connected all the power leads together.
My Desert Fox had the same switch.
I'll "fix" it one of these days. thanks for the heads up on the "ignition feed". I'll look for the stereo install instructions and check how the wires should be hooked up. Your comment about all the power being wired together sounds pretty straight up right.
