Making a list checking it twice, lol! Thanks guys...the more I read, the better I feel.
The No Start was an EGR issue, and that fixed it, but had to have a second EGR change two years later...Common?
I am just about to have the coolant changed (factory brand or personal choice?), so I will have a coolant filter put inline at the same time. Fuel Filters I've changed my self a couple times, and had them changed a couple more times.
My 6.0 has about 194,000 miles on it...mostly road towing my fifth wheel, so should I start to begin thinking about a replacement, or, just take it mile by mile.
We like to do the Rockies, but have always serviced this engine regularly.
Thanks again!
If you stay up on maintenance, avoid the tuners, you can keep the 6.0 on the road for way less $$ than a new diesel truck. The transmission in the 6.0 is a very solid unit and with proper maintenance is likely to last for many more miles.
I'm not so sure about that. We had a 2006 E-450 cube van at work with less than 60k miles on it that cost over $32,000 in mechanical repairs in it's last 2 years with us. And they were not overly hard miles with mostly one driver. And the transmission was one of the failures with the rest being all engine related.
We have several others that have cost a fortune as well and are now sending them off to auction early and replacing them with gassers.
