2005 F350 4X4

ok im curious on this now. My truck has the manual locking hubs to put it into 4x4. and then the auto button to engage it. if the hubs are not locked in, will the switch put it in 4x4 mode or not, a friend told me yes it would, but it makes no sense to have locking hubs if you don't have to use them. just curious on this.

If you have the switch on your dash (ESOF) then you do not have to manually engage the hubs. They will be engaged via a vacuum connection. If the vacuum system malfunctions, you then have the ability to manually engage them.

The switch on the dash also engages the transfer case as well.

  • IIRC you can engage hubs manually OR via switch (auto button).
The auto mode engages them via vacuum pump.

Options...manual just in case you can't do it via auto button
