How can you say the 2006-7 trucks are the best if you have never driven any truck newer?
There is a lot of deceit when it come to buying used vehicles. Mileage turned back to be a big one with those years truck.
I own an 06 LBZ, but the 08 LMM that I drive everyday has never lost a day of work in 90K miles. My LBZ has not been bad, but not as good as the LMM. Zero issues with the DPF other than it uses fuel. I still really like my LBZ, and I would recommend one to anyone looking for such a truck, but the newer Duramax models run just fine as well.
True story. My 09 is bullet proof. Zero problems. Awesome truck-actually fewer problems than an lbz cause no tcase pump rub (newer design). The lbz myth is great but mostly just that.
Everything you say is true but the LBZ is coveted for its simplicity vs. the later generations due to the lack of emissions stuff.
The later engines have decent improvements and perform well but they have the mandated emissions complexity that many including myself chose to avoid.
