Check the engine hours, easy to do - check YouTube for a how to.
Start the engine and remove the oil cap. Cover the oil fill hole with your hand (or your hand in a rag/paper towel). If there is excess blow by, that's where it will come out. That will indicate a worn engine.
Spend $100 or so and get it checked out at another shop. Areas to focus on are the front suspension & steering and the transmission if it's an auto.
