2006 Fleetwood Orbit - Shower drain clogged?

I have a 2006 Fleetwood Orbit and I noticed that there is standing water in the shower & sink drain.

I first tried the Zip It tool and nothing came out.
I used an hand auger and felt no clog.
I used baking soda and vinegar.
I cleaned out the P-trap under the sink and no debris.

The shower drain has no access panel so I am not sure if there is a clog. When I shower the water doesn't back up into the tub. I poured hot water down the shower drain and opened the gray water tank and water immediately comes out but there is still standing water.

Is it normal for there to be standing water in the shower drain?
Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Jacob
  • I am guessing here, but from what you describe I would guess the water is pooling away from the drain due to the trailer (or shower pan itself) being out of level such that the drain is actually uphill from the pool of water. If it is pooling around the drain, then the drain is clogged despite your previous efforts to clean it out.
  • Many of the shower drains don't drain through the floor directly below the shower. Often they run along the floor under cabinetry and then through a common hole in the floor with the sink drain. This means there is very little slope to the drain and if the trailer isn't perfectly level you may have a small puddle of water at the shower drain. My current trailer won't puddle in the shower pan but it is very near the top of the drain where it is easily visible if my trailer is slightly right side high.
  • I'm assuming it's more standing water than you would have if the RV was not level. If ours isn't level we will get about an 1/8" of standing water on the low side of the RV.

My guess would be the roof vent may be clogged so the shower will drain slow enough to build up standing water.
