2006 Ford 6.0 Turbo diesel ???

We have now entered the Flame/Troll zone. I hesitate in deleting/editing posts. Please read your post. Is it a Flame/Troll? Should it be deleted or edited?

Initially it would haul that pop up...and not even know it was there. I would eventually look to upgrade the TC. Would also make other hauling tasks easier. I would guess it would be more truck than I need, but then could one ever have to much truck?

I put a call in to the owner to see the truck and explore what, if anything has been done. On the outside it looks clean.......which also questions why one would sell it. It looks like the earliest I could connect will be Wednesday.

I had vaguely remembered reading about Ford engine concerns on this site and quick internet search was mixed. You have all addressed my concerns and more.

I in no way wish to create a war, rather than educate myself. I appreciate those that shared their happiness and those that shared their not-so-happy experiences. You have given me some wisdom to ask the owner good questions.

Ah Ha! I finally figured out why there is so much negative churn. You guys are trying to run the price down so so you can buy one cheap. From now on I just have to view these negative comments as someone who pines for something they don't have.

The number on the road has no bearing on the potential failure rate. You have no idea how many of those may have already been repaired or how many are sitting broken somewhere.

No, I do not own one but it's clear enough from MANY sources that this engine had a disproportionate share of issues compared to its competition. While some may blame poor maintenance or faulty repairs, that cancels out when you consider the same general public consumes all brands of engines with different outcomes.

Yes many people will have a trouble-free experience. It's all about the odds and whether that's something a person is willing to accept at the time of purchase. If the OP is someone who can afford the risk and is willing to keep after maintenance there may be some great deals to be had.

Im not sure about you but if they are sitting in a yard broken down I normally don't see them driving down the road. I had a failure on mine @ 79K and had it repaired under warranty. Owner before me put a tuner on it. I guess you may be right about them being prone to failure after all. At 148K I had to clean my egr valve. Guess I should junk it for that. My views on the 6.0 are from my experience, not what some one told me.

I thought I was being pretty clear but somehow you completely missed my point. It's basic statistics: You cannot make a claim of success based solely the number of trucks you see running down the road without knowing how many were there to start with. You said, "Next time your out look how many you still see on the road, there are a lot." What exactly does that say about their reliability?

You also cannot predict future expectations from a sample size of 1, hence the reason owning one is not really relevant. If anything owners are more likely to be biased.

I never once said anything about being "prone" to fail or "junk" but nice straw man.

I was being fair in suggesting the OP could come out ahead if he chooses well and intends to keep after his maintenance.

So you are an owner and pretending to be objective? I have never identified myself with a vehicle I have owned and all had some good points and some bad points and a number of them were terrible buys as it turned out later.

Check the selling prices for Ford diesel trucks in these years as compared to Ram and GM and Chevy diesel trucks with the same number of miles on them and the Fords will be selling for 15-20% less. If they were as good as the other trucks they would be selling for the same amount.
