In '06, I wanted a SRW. There wasn't another truck that had the same payload (that is different now), so I bought a Ford 6.0. I kept it 8 years. It had one turbo rust from not driving it enough and not using additive for a short period. It was replaced under warranty. I ran Rotella synthetic oil. It had great mileage and great power.
Btw, you can buy Ford extended warranties, or lookup Bulletproof Diesel.
