It's hit or miss with the 6uh-oh. Unless you like to tinker or don't mind dropping a chunk of money on it, I would probably pass.
For me, I've gone as far as pulling the injectors and sanding the spools to eliminate stiction issues and have done some "other" performance related modifications, but that's me. I don't mind.
There are many 6.0's that never have had a problem, but like a couple people have said, this not the place to get detailed info. about this engine. An 03 is not an 06 and neither is a "chip" something that is relevant to these engines.
At the very least, all 6.0's end up leaking oil to some degree. For some, that alone is not worth it. Not everyone wants to deal with oil in the driveway.
The upshot is... if you're willing to spend the money on upgrades and be diligent about subsequent maintenance, it can be a good, strong running truck.
I'm not gonna say that I "love" mine, but I do love the gobs of power it makes. Yes, I have tunes specifically written for my engines strategy and setup, not a generic, canned one and not one meant for racing. Those race tunes will guaranteed, break a stock engine.
