I was on the fence a few years ago when I bought my 7.3. I did a ton of research and know a well maintained, modified 6.0 can be a good truck. The 05-07 is what I was looking at since it has a newer look and a better tranny than the old 7.3's. I was planning on bulletproofing one and all that. Ultimately I bought a late 7.3 (2002) and put a 2005-2007 grille on it, never looked back.
Who knows if I made the right decision, but I have had zero issues with my 7.3. Now that I have owned it several years and have it payed off, I sit in the driveway looking at it thinking, why ever buy another truck? It will outlast me if I maintain it and only drive it 3-4k a year like I do. Love my old zero emission 7.3.
