Once I had just the thin sheet of fiberglass siding left I used it as my pattern to cut the new side out.
The upper front was completely replaced, and the lower front was partially replaced. Everywhere the wood was rotten I could dig it out, but where it wasn't rotten the siding was stuck on tight, and couldn't be removed. I used a battery operated hand held circular saw to remove old wood, and square things up. The depth gauge was set to just cut the bad wood, and not the siding. It was tricky.
I went to Fastenal, and bought Phillips head sheet metal screws to re install all the aluminum extrusions. #10x3/4 & #10x1. I also bought #12x3/4 & #12x1 hex head screws to replace other screws. I used somewhere around 350 new screws.
