This has been a truly amazing journey. Every reader on here with a wood frame is thinking, "There but for the Grace of God go I." A few probably have a similar disfunction/rot problem but don't know it is lurking just behind the sheathing.
When i needed a tie-down area repair, the excellent RV workman took only the siding he needed to take off, just chasing the rot. I asked him about using modern glue techniques instead of his industrial stapler, like the factory uses, and he said glue joints on wood would not hold up to the racking, but those 1-1/2" W staples would. With your space age materials whatever the pros recommend is what to do. You certainly have no fear about worrying your way through the project. My piddling little fix (compared to yours):
