y'all aren't going to believe this but I went this morning unplug the trailer plug back into the truck and all the lights came on

Im lost on this. We even checked the resistance of the green wire and it checked good. I find it odd that everything works except the running lights unless I hook them up to a different battery source.

We had the exact same problem. We had a friend spend several hours rewiring it since the previous owners wired it backwards. Then I discovered when plugged in, the clearance lights stay lit up. So he is coming back tomorrow and installing a toggle switch. It isn't a big deal to me to switch the switch when parked or ready to travel. Our trailer is a 1995 Dutchmen that we just bought and it sat for several years at their property.

Ok guys/gals...Ive been having an issue when I hook up my travel trailer to my truck. The problem is that my running lights will not work when I turn on my lights. My blinkers work, hazards work, and my brake lights work but the running lights won't. So me and my neighbor tried to pin point the area the problem could be in. When I checked the 7 pin on the truck, it shows that it has power (12volts). When I hook up the trailer I would go under it to the junction box and start testing the wires. it is only about 5 foot from the truck to the junction box. Well there's no power. So we unhooked the plug from the truck, replaced it and still nothing. so we unhooked the plug again and we took the green wire (which is the running lights wire) and put it on the battery on the trailer.. guess what....the lights came on. Hooked the plug back up and nothing. Unhooked it again and put the green wire back on the battery and BINGO we got some lights. But when I hook it all back up it still want work. Well we Ohmed the wire to see if there was a break in the wire and it checked perfect....So now Imt lost. I was thinking about putting a toggle switch from the battery to the running lights so they will have work when I turn on the toggle switch...Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Well I've replaced the plug on the trailer and the lights started working again. But guess what. After a few months, we went on a trip and the lights worked but when I plugged it back into my truck to leave I heard a pop noise and now there are no running lights at all again. I checked the fuse on my truck and tested the female receptical on my truck. Everything is good. So I went home and changed the male plug and its still not working. Is there a fuse inside the trailer that controls the trailer lights?

Lol. I meant brake lights.

I would check inside the pig tail junction box under the front of the trailer and see that the connections from the pig tail to the wires to the markers etc are OK. What are beagle lights?

I didn't clarify it enough, sorry. But none of my running lights, side markers or tail lamps, are working. I only have brake lights and turn signals.

This happened to me this year. I took out the bulb and took a little sandpaper to the connection. Put the bulb back in and it works fine. Just a little coat of crud on the bulb. This may not be your problem, but it may be. Takes under a minute to try. Good luck.
