2006 Trail Cruiser 30QBSS

First of all, I'm glad to be here on this forum!

So my wife and I just purchased a 2006 Trail Cruiser - Trail Lite 30QBSS which is our first ever camper. I know, I know, were newbies. Anyways, I am fairly mechanically inclined, however, I'm getting flustered with this whole de-winterizing thing. Also, I cant find the switch to turn on the gas water heater! I've searched and searched for an owners manual and NOTHING! I know very little about this camper and since its my first I'm a bit overwhelmed about everything such as how to's, do's and dont's, ect..

So that's my plea! If anyone can tell me where I can get an owners manual for this thing, what I need to service such as the slide out, or anything else your RV'ing heart may desire then feel free to share! Im ALL ears, or should I say eyes since ill be reading whatever you write.

Thanks in advance.

Erik

Hello. We have the same trailer as you do and the hot water heater switch to ignite the flame is inside the bathroom beside the bathroom light switch. You turn it on and the stitch will turn red as it tried to ignite and then will click off and then back on automatically until it lights. If you leave it on it will hear as needed. If it doesn't ignite after a bit of trying then turn the switch off for a min then try again. Hope this helps!

That was optional. The OP might have the same water heater that I have in my 2004 model. Two options that I don' have and wish that I had are...

    1) auto ignition hot water heater
    2) electric element heater in rooftop A/C unit for chilly nights where I've got shore power and don't want to use propane.

  • Our 2005 Trail Cruiser had a ignition sws under the counter near the sink. Might have been an extra option. Would think an 06 would too. There was an on line source for R Vision manuals but not sure if it still exists. The R Vision Camping forums would be your best bet http://www.r-visioncamping.org/modules.php?name=Forums
  • One other thing...

My owners manual was tucked-in behind the slide. Only accessible when the slide is retracted into the trailer. To the left of the sliding pantry, at the floor level, you should be able to see into the cavity created by the slide. All my owners manuals were tucked-up in that cavity.
  • First some bad news...

I have a very very similar trailer to yours. I have a 2004 R-Vision 30QBSS and the gas water heater is not ideal.

There is NO switch inside, NO breaker inside, NO electricity required to run the water heater. You need to go outside and physically open the water heater access cover. Assuming that you have already filled the water heater with water (do you know where the bypass is located?) and have turned on the propane at the tank(s)then your next step is to light the pilot.

Turn the gas valve knob to pilot, depress the knob, and hold a flame at the pilot tip. A BBQ lighter works best for this. After the pilot ignites you need to continue holding down that knob for about 30 seconds. Release the knob, if the pilot stays lit, turn the knob to ON and the main burner will ignite. After the water temperature reaches setpoint the main flame will turn off and the pilot will stay on. Every time the temperature drops, the main flame will ignite to keep it warm. You will be using propane the entire time.

If you are concerned about propane use...

You can either turn on the water heater 1/2 hour before you need hot water and then turn it off again.

    or

Install a HottRod electric element heater kit (this is what I do) but will require shore power to run it.

Having this type of water heater has an advantage, it does not require battery power to run, but if you are on shore power anyway, it is a slightly annoying setup.

    Good Luck!
  • Search for RVision Camping Club forum. Used to own a Trail Lite and the site was extremely informative. Free to join.
  • Thanks!! I don't see a breaker in the breaker box, didn't see a switch on the heater itself, only a gas know and definitely don't see a switch on the inside. All I see is a place on my notification panel where my tank levels are displayed where it says W.H. but it never lights up obviously since I can't turn it on...
  • Call the company directly, they may be able to get you one.

For the hot water heater, mine as a breaker in the fuse box that needs to be on, a switch on the outside of the hot water heater itself (accessible from outside the trailer under the access cess panel), and the normal switch on the wall to turn it on and off.
