2007 Prowler 240 RKS - Any Info?

Hey Folks,

Looking to hear if anyone knows anything about Fleetwood Prowler trailers and their build quality. I'm considering purchasing a used 2007 Prowler 240RKS, but I can't find any info on the web about it. It says it is an 'Extreme Edition" which I assume means it has extra insulation and insulated/heated tanks, which is what I'm looking for as my primary use will be in the winter in the PNW.

What i'm interested in is if any knows if this is an aluminum or wood framed build and overall general knowledge of the quality of the brand? I've learned the Fleetwood sold the brand in 2009 to Heartland, so any info on the Fleetwood builds would be great.

Thanks!
  • We had a Fleetwood Prowler very similar to that one and about the same age. Aluminum frame. "Extreme Edition" could mean anything. Ours..."Pacific Northwest Edition" did have heated tanks, etc.

It was a decent unit..and we used it a lot without any MAJOR problems..But, like any trailer, lots of little "keep after" on going maintenance stuff.

What to look for....ANY signs of present or past leaks. Also check the age of the tires..
  • On Tuesday next week, we'll be trading our 2004 Prowler Regal 270FQS Extreme Edition for a new Arctic Fox.

We bought the Prowler new in 2003. We've camped the heck out of the trailer - last year we did 160 days between May and November.

Ours is 4 sides aluminum - in 2004 the 6 side aluminum were the Regal AX6 models. Non Regal/Regal AX6 models (standards) were listed as just model - in my case it would be:

    270FQS = wood frame
    270FQS Regal = 4 sides aluminum (walls/floor/ceiling)
    270FQS Regal AX6 = 6 sides aluminum

I believe by 2006 the AX6 moniker was gone and there were only base and Regal. Base was wood frame and Regal was 6 side aluminum.

2006 brochure is available here. Good info on basic stuff.

    Extreme Edition includes:

    - Double Thickness Insulation
    - Heated & Enclosed Holding Tanks
    Located Below the Floor
    - Mud Flaps

Ours has been fantastic. No major problems at all. 12 years later our awning sticks a little. That's about it.

We wish the rain gutters were bigger. We wish the floor in the shower felt a little more solid.

It's been a fantastic trailer. At one point we lived in it for 8 weeks while moving from Texas to Washington State.

Between May and November of last year we spent more time in our little Prowler than we did at home.

NO complaints. We definitely got our money's worth from her and we'll miss her. It's really in how you take care of them..

By the way - we're neighbors and we've been camping our Prowler up here for 9 years - no problems.
