2007 ram 2500 4x4 durability

Hello Guys, I am looking at a 2007 ram 2500 4x4 with a 5.7 and auto trans. Truck looks good but has 227000 miles on it. It is a one owner N.C truck. Price is high at 11900 I think. How durable is the Hemi engine and the auto trans? Any help will be appreciated.

  • I already have a travel trailer. It is a Jayco 25z. Not very heavy and I tow with a 2005 F150 but all our towing is in the mountains. Just wanted a 2500 series truck.
  • Some people think that what ever they are selling is gold... I just finished restoring a car with my kids...I have seen absolutely crazy prices for common parts..

The key here is to do some homework and get a feel of the market.

BTW, the first rule of buying a trailer...TT or 5th...is to buy it first then find a tow vehicle for it. This saves being disappointed or more dangerously, buying a trailer on a sales reps advice that will overwhelm your tow vehicle.

    Hope this helps..
  • That price is ridiculous. Great truck combo but I wouldn't even entertain that seller with a counter offer.
  • Thanks for the reply. I have heard 6000 to 7000 would be a good price.
  • I have a 1500 of the same vintage. No probs with the engine or auto transmission...but I only have 85K miles on her..

Mine is in excellent condition and I doubt that I could get 8K for mine.

I always thought the 2500/3500 should have a diesel.

Personally, I would run in the opposite direction... mileage is high for a gas unit and there are great deals out there...

    Just my opinion...
