They redesigned the Cummins 5.9L in 2007.5 models and made it a 6.7L. A "2007.5" model is any one manufactured after January 1, 2007. I had a 2007 model that was made in October 2006 and had the older 5.9L engine. Several emissions control devices were added that added to the 2007.5 models that increased complexity and reduced fuel economy in the name of better emissions :S.
In any case, there were some issues when they came out - mainly sooted up turbos and check engine lights for issues with the emissions control equipment they are saddled with.
There was a steep learning curve, but from my reading, some software updates and redesigned hard parts have cured the vast majority of the issues.
When reading about issues, check to see if there have been any modifications done (mostly to increase power). Sometimes that can cause problems.
