- carringbExplorer2008 was a bad year. Both of our fleet's 4500's were shop queens, and they are both fuel hogs.
- samhain7ExplorerA lot of what I read is the engine light, the particulate filter...the turbos needing replacing all the time...
- ib516Explorer IIThey redesigned the Cummins 5.9L in 2007.5 models and made it a 6.7L. A "2007.5" model is any one manufactured after January 1, 2007. I had a 2007 model that was made in October 2006 and had the older 5.9L engine. Several emissions control devices were added that added to the 2007.5 models that increased complexity and reduced fuel economy in the name of better emissions :S.
In any case, there were some issues when they came out - mainly sooted up turbos and check engine lights for issues with the emissions control equipment they are saddled with.
There was a steep learning curve, but from my reading, some software updates and redesigned hard parts have cured the vast majority of the issues.
When reading about issues, check to see if there have been any modifications done (mostly to increase power). Sometimes that can cause problems. - samhain7Explorer2007 is OK. They redesigned the engine for 2008 though
- BrewurownExplorerI have a 2007 2500 Ram 6.7 auto 6 speed, I have not had any major problems. Pulls my 5th wheel just fine.
- Gonzo42ExplorerIs this a Sprinter chassis? We have the 3500, 3.0L Diesel engine. No problems whatsoever except that finding service parts and fluids are a little expensive.
