A lot of people don't drive their TV's much aside from towing. I have a 2008 F250 V-10 crew cab that's still as good as new. Not a scratch or dent on it and less than 17k miles. I also met a guy last week driving a beautiful 2008 F250 crew cab diesel with 19k miles. It's not real common but they can be found. Since I sold my 5er I don't drive my truck much. Love it but debating whether I should keep it at this point.

Personally, and no offense meant to Ford diesel owners, but the city I worked for bought a bunch of the Ford diesels and we had nothing but problems with them. One blew an engine at 12k miles and was constantly in the shop. Others were having injector problems. We NEVER had problems with the V-10 gasser we had. I love the Ford gassers but I would never buy a Ford diesel.....

My son has also found a 2011 with 78000m for just a tad more

I have had zero engine problems in 60,000 miles on 2008. Change the oil like clockwork, fuel filters every second oil change and yearly flush the rest of the fluids. The biggest problem with the 6.4 is the way the regeneration of the DPF works, and the EGR cooling system. There are lots of posts on the forums about removing these items and how great the trucks run after these modifications, might have to try it myself one day.

Most are good and some not, this is for information only not to bash the 6.7 they are a strong running motor with good mpg.

We have an 08 gmc with 22000 miles on it so it can happen .

I had one and now I dont. Multiple injectors, radiator, rear main seal, and never ending regen issue that could could never be fixed. Mine was an 08 job 1 so maybe it was just because it was the first of that truck made but it was a POS. Don't forget that many of the engine problems cant be fixed without the cab having to be raised off the truck first therefore repairs are $$$$. I would look at other brands or if you are sticking with Ford make it after 2012 so you aren't buying a first year 6.7

Agree! I have one, and have done the mods for the known problems. Truck runs great, better mileage etc. I am not really brand loyal( more of a GM guy really) so I bought this truck based on price alone. Haven't had one single issue yet still on original rad. If I were to it again though, I'd buy something else, since you're in a position to do that, that would be my advise. JMHO.

Lots of problems with the pre 2010 Ford diesel trucks overall. When I was looking for a used truck in 2011 I found that the average Ford diesel 1-ton was selling for $5,000 less than a comparable Ram or GM truck.

An engine repair on a diesel can be anywhere from $4,000 to $9,000 or more than an complete rebuild of the engine on a gas engine for a truck. If the extra torque of the diesel is not needed go with a truck with a gas engine.

We just traded our 2008 with nearly 120000 miles. Radiator needed to be replaced at about 29000, and then no further problems-it did everything we asked of it. And that includes pulling a loaded 5th wheel running nearly 19000 pounds, all thru the Rockys, up to Alaska, and all thru the Canadian maritimes.

I'm now officially afraid of my 6.4

2010 F250 SD w/ 16,000 (hard) miles on it.
