2008 GMC Sierra 3500, Whata ya think?

I have talked to many people with the TravelAir king pin mount and they have all said it made a dramatic difference in how much shock from the trailer was transmitted to the cab of the truck. Better to invest in something like the 5th Wheel Air Hitch by 5th Airborne or Ultra-Fab's TrailAir than to buy a new truck. These address the shock transfer which DRW will not.

A DRW truck is need for a very heavy 5th wheel trailer and I see them in use by people pulling large and very heavy horse trailers where the need is for the added load capacity of the 4 wheels.

We have the 2007.5 (same as the 2008). Great truck. I have had no issues with the tranny lines leaking. We tow a 12K(empty) fiver with the B & W Companion as well as a 30' horse trailer using the goose-neck configuration. Looks like all you will need to buy will be the "Companion" and your good to go. Someone mentioned this model has the DPF and they are right. We have had no issues with our DPF and it does a "re-gen" about every 400 to 500 miles. There is a place in Connecticut now that refurbishes DPFs for a fraction of the cost of purchasing a new one. The DPF may be a reasonable concern, but I wouldn't make it the determining factor, as I know several drivers who have several hundred thousand miles on their trucks with no DPF issues.

I have no real signs of wear. Had it to 2 dealers, one specifically for this as the factory warranty was about up and I want a paper trail. The other to readjust the tranny lines they had replaced. Both couldn't puta finger on it. May just pull the driveshaft and replace the carrier bearing. Thought maybe it felt like it was up front like maybe a harmonic balancer although I haven't looked closely at that yet. Can't feel it in the wheel,just the floor. Feels mechanical and is real slight.

Check the drive shaft center support bearing.

I just picked up one exactly like what your describing last week with only 73000 miles on it. Im sitting at the Rv dealership right now getting the B W gooseneck ball on it right now. Lol.
I like it so far. But I have a 2012 in the garage at home to pull the camper too. This will be my work truck mostly and miles will accumulate quickly. Other than a vibration that's still to slight to find and getting the wiring in bed this is a good truck. Tranny lines were just replaced at the dealer I bought it from right before I got it.

I have an 08 2500Hd, so it's very similar. It has 88,000 miles and so far only routine maintenance and new tires. It seems like everyone loves my truck and is always wanting to borrow it or at least drive it.

what truck did you have before the 2011 and the truck before that? I am glad this truck is working for you Charles.

I had a 2011 2500 CC 6.6 4X4 that the shifter cable broke on with no warning and the 4X4 cable fell off the arm as there was no locking device on it and had multiple Check Engine Lights due to DEF sensor problems. Traded it for a 2012 Ram 2500 6.7. Never missed a lick so far.

Unless it was super cheap, I would pass and get one with much lower miles. Yes, they are very durable, but with the miles come an increased risk of repairs for everything.
