Your battery was probably dead. After a few minutes of being plugged in it got enough charge to start working some systems. Also, keep in mind that your fridge even though it's a 3 way, still needs 12V power from the battery in every mode to run it's internal electronics. I'd advise disconnecting the battery while in storage to avoid this in the future.
