- tsbelueExplorerOUR POLITICIANS WORRY ABOUT POLLUTION TO MUCH. Trees and plants restore our oxygen to the atmosphere, if we quit cutting so many trees wit out replacing them we would balance it out. We are only one country so we dont make a big impact compared to the rest of the world. In other countries they still use and manufacture R12 & R22 Freon for A/C and refrigeration. The government has turned the lie about global warming into a big businesses to get more money out of everyone's pocket!

Unfortunately I have also come to stand by this opinion quite strongly. My wife and I decided back in 2012 when we started driving full emissions equipped trucks that we wouldn't drive another diesel out of warrenty period. That's not to say you cant acquire a lot more trouble free miles on a truck without warrenty however testing that theory just isn't in our checque book! with how advance of technology and how utterly expensive it is to fix these items if they do happen is worth the monthly payment for peace of mind.
As for the CP4 I cant speak from personal experience but we ran a 2012 denali dually, and a 2015 GMC dually both deleted and compiled about 120,000 trouble free KM between those two trucks... not a lot I know, but the trucks were strong, and we were very happy with them. We only acquired about 14,000km on the 2015 before we traded in on the 2015 ram dually.
I HAVE however witnessed my father inlaws deleted 2015 GMC, with lift pump, running a stock HP tune grenade the CP4 at 12,000KM on the clock, crusing down the highway at 110km/h and it took out the entire fuel system. All said and done out the door it was a 16,000$ (Canadian) repair. He immediately did a CP3 conversion during the repair process. Because he was deleted warrenty wouldn't cover it, so we had our family friend do the work who owns a high end muscle car/fab shop. Quite frankly its down right scary just how much this **** costs to replace/fix
In the end I would STILL buy another duramax... simply because they are amazing trucks and I know the chances are very slim that you would have a complete failure... My wife and I really like the switch to the RAM we made, for more of a change of pace than anything really as we've owned GM almost exclusively. Is it a better engine? I suppose its paid its dues as its been around for a long time, yes it does have a CP3 which is also paid its dues but at the same time that dosent mean it wont fail. HOWEVER I know that a CP3 wont puke its guts into the fuel system if it does blow.

Why would anyone do deletes on a new generation truck that is under warranty? Chris
Well, when you own a multi million dollar construction business that works in -50 temps that require you to idle the truck all day, and you end up having to send 2-3 trucks out a month to GM for repairs to faulty def tank sensors, nox sensors, DPF's that put you into limp mode. Those trucks start to cost you money rather than make you money. Since there always in the shop.
Since we started deleting all of our trucks in 2012 we've logged a total of probably 300,000KM of trouble free KM in severe weather conditions... Emissions equipment I am sure works great in places that don't actually have a "real" winter.... And taking them to the dealer dosent just happen when your in the bush and there 300KM away. you do the math?
So your father inlaw works in the patch?????? Chris
nah not in the oil patch, he operates a heavy equipment construction business, Dozerz, excavators, semis etc. - JustLabsExplorer

Some guys are so afraid of a potential $10,000 CP4 repair, they'll drop $50,000+ on a new truck.
Makes perfect sense...lol
Ain't a whole lot of people dropping $50k on a truck. That's why all the dealers have finance departments with 7+ year loans. Repair shops don't have finance departments so you got to pony up the $10k cash that day. That is unless you have some savior come and eat the cost for you like an insurance company.
Cash up front or a payment for 7 years. My point is the same. - Me_AgainExplorer III

I think you are missing the point, lets say $600.00 payments about $7200.00 per year , year after year . Pretty expensive insurance for a 10K repair" IF IT HAPPENS " :@ You could spend a lot of money waiting for that pump to blow. Oh ! , wait I forgot the peace of mind !!!!!!! - ApprovedAnonymous
