2011 Duramax vs 2016 Cummins

I currently have a 2011 GMC 2500HD 4x4, Crew cab with the Duramax Diesel engine and Allison transmission. The truck has 155k miles on it and I am looking at the 2016 Ram 2500's with the Cummins diesel engines. Has anyone heard of any issues or own one of the 2015 or 2016's?

  • 6 speed automatic. Right now my area is flooded with ex-rentals from out of state. 2016's with 6-20k miles on them. Problem is they still want above blue book
  • What transmission? 2500 Cummins are available with both a 6 speed manual and a 6 speed automatic. The 68RFE automatic is a very reliable transmission that will return years of service. Depending on rear end ratio it could be a real good unit. The 3.42 standard rear end ratio works good for most people. But I would much prefer the 3.72 or the 4.10 for towing heavy.
  • I love mine. No issues so far in about 25k miles.
