You will overload the rear tires long before you run out of power. A 17K fiver is going to have 3500-4500 pounds of pin weight. About 95% of that weight will be directly over the rear axle. Get something smaller or get a dually.
Trailer payload is not the same as fifth wheel pin. And this is based on a lot of factory, tires is only one of those factors.
It sounds like your going to do it regardless what anyone says, so go for it. Just don't come back here in a year or so and complain about problems.
