Not the prettiest body work...but yeah, I have cleaned up a few trucks over the years myself.
I've seen enough internet specials that look great online but when you see them in person, they hid the issues.
You're not hearing what I'm saying. Not talking about body work, who cares if the fenders are rusted, except aesthetically?
But if you cannot recognize the vast differences in cost, service life and difficulty between keeping a rust bucket running and a clean vehicle running then this is falling on dead ears. Or to be fair, you don't have the experience, either geographically or mechanically to know the difference.
"Internet special?" What does that have to do with anything?
We're not talking about doing your due diligence to know that you're buying the vehicle you think you are, the discussion was rust belt rust bucket vs not.
Like I said, I'm glad more people DON'T realize what they can get form non rust belt areas, because I like having my pick of rust free older vehicles all to myself! (Figuratively, of course)
Prime example, bought my sister in WI a (older) car a few years ago from out here. She couldn't keep it. Ended up selling it for a profit because the locals around her small town couldn't get over how clean a 12 year old car could be. Bought her another one after that, from here. She gets charged less for repairs than usual, because the mechanic looked under it and couldn't believe how clean (another) 12 year old car was and that he wasn't going to struggle with rusted hardware, snapped bolts, more repairs needed than necessary, etc.
