I never did get the whole fan boi thing?
I bought a lot of good stuff in my life and a few bad things. If a friend ever asked about either I would tell them the good points and the bad points and then they can make up their own mind.
I even get the whole "mine works great" way of thinking but it's not good logic. Case in point is my 5.7 Olds diesel. The 5.7 is THE WORST diesel ever put into a vehicle. The very worst. I own several of them because at the time I got them for a dime on a dollar and wanted to see what was so bad about them. That being said I put 10's of thousands of trouble free miles on my 5.7. Other than oil changes and such I never put a dime in it.
If I didn't know about the reputation of this engine or how it was designed I would be what I call an "ignorantly happy consumer."
I once read where way more than half of the 5.7 diesel owners were happy with their hunks of junk. Over 50%!!!!
My point is, even if my 5.7 diesel has been trouble free doesn't make it a great or even a good engine. They were the worst diesel engine ever put in a vehicle. I admit that and it would be silly to deny.
Unfortunately there are a lot of "ignorant consumers and/or fan boi's" on forums.
Speaking of ignorant, I didn't know about the
problem Bill talks about with the 6.7 around the 8 minute mark in this video.OP it would be good to watch the above video if you are still interested in buying this truck. This problem is included in the year you are looking at.
It's always good to talk to or watch video's of people that work on these things every day of their life.
